Chambery Airport (CMF)
Chambery Airport, like Grenoble Airport, is a small affair, but with a strong focus on winter flights, both scheduled and chartered. Don't bother looking for a flight here in summer - there are almost none. It is a complex approach for the pilots landing there, with a combination of mountains, lakes and (often) fog to contend with! Its small size is a bonus, however. With only 2 luggage carousels and parking directly out front, you are quickly in and out.
Local tips: the cafe is pretty good upstairs with great views over the runways as well as the surrounding mountains. There's a big telly in there that shows a lot of sport if you need to kill some time. Also, regional produce stalls spring up in the main hall on busy winter transfer weekends too, showcasing the local Savoyarde treats. Look out for Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden fame - he flies commercially in and out of this airport from time to time.
